Birdia product page (in beta) · reviewed 12 Oct 2026
The down-the-line view, with the phone behind you on the target line, is the one that shows posture, plane and whether your hips move toward the ball on the way down. Birdia (our product, in beta) analyzes from that view: today it measures early extension, and its spoken setup coach corrects your knees and posture before every shot.
What Birdia does for this
Choose the down-the-line view when you film, or switch to it by voice without touching the phone.
Measures early extension (the pelvis moving toward the ball in the downswing) using TPI's "tush line" criterion.
Before you hit, the setup coach checks knees, posture and stance and gives you one spoken correction, in English, Spanish or German.
Address guide lines, hand-path trace, slow motion and frame by frame so you can check the plane yourself.
Plane, a flying elbow or over the top are suggested as likely causes from the doctrine, not measured.
From behind, the camera barely sees sway or weight shift: that's what the face-on view is for. Birdia does not measure club plane or clubface at impact in degrees, and the setup coach stays quiet if it isn't confident in what it sees.
The web app runs at golf.birdia.app. The Android and iPhone apps are in beta: sign up and we send you an invite.
Frequently asked questions
Where do I put my phone to film down the line?
Behind you, on the target line, at hand height (roughly hip height) and about 3-4 metres away, with your whole body in frame. If the framing won't work, Birdia tells you before it analyzes.
What is early extension and how does Birdia detect it?
It's when your pelvis moves toward the ball in the downswing and you lose the spine angle you set up with; TPI lists it among the most common swing characteristics. Birdia measures it from the down-the-line view by comparing your hip position with where it was at address (TPI's "tush line"), and only reports it when it is confident enough.
Face-on or down the line: which view should I choose?
They complement each other. Face-on shows sway, weight shift and tempo; down the line shows posture, plane and early extension. If you can only film one, pick the one that shows your miss: with pushes or heel strikes, start down the line.
How much does Birdia cost?
There is a free plan. Premium costs €14.99/month or €99/year and Pro-IA €29.99/month, VAT included. Payment happens only inside the app, through the App Store or Google Play. Birdia is in beta.
